Supporting conservation efforts for over 20 years has brought some incredible experiences, and one of the most memorable was visiting @painted_dog_conservation in Hwange, Zimbabwe.🐾

One powerful fundraising initiative has been their basket weaving project, which has not only helped conservation efforts but also empowered local artisans. Visiting the headquarters, @newmanbinky was lucky to see a rare moment of interaction between wild Cape Hunting Dogs and those who are being rehabilitated - a truly unforgettable experience.

Supporting local communities and protecting these beautiful animals go hand in hand - an amazing cause worth every bit of effort.

The Totem Wall Hanging Collection.

Our latest collaboration with @sidaidesigns presents the Totem Wall Hanging Collection, a stunning showcase of intricate craftsmanship by the skilled Maasai women and beaders of @sidaidesigns.

A feature wall is currently on display at our Old Church Hall Showroom at 42 Roodebloem Road, Woodstock, while the smaller pieces can be found at 42 Hares Avenue, Woodstock. The two showrooms are just a quick 2-minute drive from each other.

Showroom hours:
Tuesday - Friday: 10 am - 5 pm
Saturday: 10 am - 3 pm

Celebrating the Talented Women of Lupane Women’s Centre.

Here’s a glimpse into the incredible work of our partners at Lupane Women’s Centre. These skilled Ndebele weavers are truly prized in their community, creating beautiful, functional baskets that have been a part of Zimbabwean culture for decades.

Binky first noticed the importance of baskets when she visited Bulawayo in 1975, seeing how many women incorporated them into their daily lives. The support from government initiatives and marketing outlets was remarkable. Since then, she had the privilege of partnering with the Jairos Jiri Association, founded in 1940 to assist disabled individuals by promoting handcrafted goods.

Together, we’ve celebrated traditional basketry skills and created wonderful products.

The Old Church Hall Showroom, is filled with an incredible mix of old and new textiles from all corners of Africa. From the intricately woven cloths of Ghana to the safety pin and beaded Mcheka Shangaan, woven cotton blankets from the Mossi tribe, and the timeless Bogolan (mud cloth) of Mali, each piece tells a unique story.

You’ll find modern hand weaves, appliqué, and embroidered cloths that are as versatile as they are beautiful.

These textiles can be used as bed covers, wall hangings, or even clothing - each one having traveled far, bringing artistic stories to life. The handspun, handwoven Mossi cloth is a true icon of design, unchanged through time. It’s fully organic, softening with each wash, and perfect for upholstery, cool evening shawls, or wrapping your little one in timeless tradition.
